I recently listened to a spiritual discourse, and the preacher said, "You won’t even take a safety pin," which triggered me.
Death is an exciting topic that none of us wants to discuss, but everyone's life has one and only one end outcome, no matter what the journey is, i.e., Death. It is a very important concept that we, as conscious leaders, should consider and reflect on.
Life is just 'present,' death is the 'future,' and birth is the 'past.' We don't know anything before dawn, and we don't know anything about what is beyond death. It's so simple yet mind-numbingly complex to accept that our life is a journey whose end outcome is predefined. We all live for intermediary outputs, but whatever we do, we can't change the end outcome, i.e., Death.
Not in our control: We can't change the end outcome. We might be able to control our lives, but we can't control death. This proves one fundamental thing—nothing is permanent; everything is born to die.
Being Alone: We are born alone, and we are going to die alone; nobody, not even our close ones, can save us or, as a matter of fact, do anything about it. We sometimes kid ourselves by being social and having a sense that someone is with us, but interestingly, it is tough to accept that we are all alone. Getting it makes us feel more humble.
3rd law of thermodynamics: We are living every day to die one day, i.e., we all are moving towards a state of 'disorder' (final stage - death) from 'order' (initial stage - birth)
Nothing to lose: We can't lose anything from this materialistic world because we have nothing to lose and nothing to gain. It's all going to be left here when we leave. So, why bother? Life is too short to be sad or depressed. It gives us a reason to live, a reason to take risks, to make this world a better place, to fight for the causes, and to discover our spiritual side.
We should not be scared of death, but we should not be ignorant that it won't come to us, and when it comes, we will be helpless and unable to do anything. We are supposed to die like all of our ancestors. It's a very humbling thought.
We all know the end outcome—death—makes life more liberating and helps us be humble and grounded. I don't see death as hopelessness—instead, it is an unavoidable event. It is a powerful realization that if we can get comfortable with death, we can never be spiritually poor and morally corrupt. I believe the more we ponder death, the better we become as leaders, fund managers, entrepreneurs, and solutionaries.
I am sharing with this community because we need to find meaning in our lives, do good, and care about the people, the planet, and animals. I have seen a lot of wrongdoings in impact space - from fraud to sexual assault. My question is, what is the point? Mull over it, keep death as the end outcome. You won’t be able to do wrong to anyone. We all must become conscious, act positively, and do our part.
I want to leave you all with a poem - “What’s the meaning?” that I wrote when I got pulled down by a w***e privileged man.
“What's the meaning
of this wealth and greed,
if we can't really breathe.
belief is all that we need,
so that we can do a good deed.
What's the meaning
when we all live every day,
so we can die one day?
life is not a zero-sum game,
and neither it's about blame.
What's the meaning
of a world still with cry and hunger,
when we can all smile and prosper.
let me give you a reality check,
because someone is collecting all the checks.
What's the meaning
of being w***e and study at Har***d,
when you act like a freaking coward.
I love backing underdogs,
because they don't create smog.
What's the meaning
It's not about charity,
but about the opportunity.
democratise capitalism,
because I believe in the power of humanism
That's the meaning
I am imagining!”
